Screen stars out in force for Clapperboard Awards 2017
Personalities from stage and screen were out in force to celebrate the achievements of young creative talent from across Merseyside.
Liverpool actor and writer Neil Fitzmaurice hosted The Clapperboard Awards ceremony which featured appearances from Alison Steadman and Ricky Tomlinson.
Young adults who participated in film charity Clapperboard’s 2016-17 projects came together at The Capstone Theatre on Tuesday (4 April) evening to receive their special awards.
Their short films explored serious issues around mental health, asperger’s and autism, and were designed to provoke debate between all those involved.
Other presenters and guests at the star studded ceremony included award-winning Shameless actor Tina Malone, Sasha Parkinson and rising talent Kieron Bimpson.
Meanwhile, this year’s judging panel included acclaimed writer Frank Cottrell Boyce , Ricky Tomlinson and Clapperboard board member and Sense of Sound’s Perrilena Allyene Hughes.
Speaking about the event, host Neil Fitzmaurice says: “It’s been another successful celebration and for me personally, a joy to host this prestigious event. The local creative talent here tonight is a credit to us all”.
Liverpool-born Alison Steadman, adds: “This is the first time I’ve managed to attend the Clapperboard Awards and I’m truly amazed by the work these young adults have produced. I can’t believe what Clapperboard has achieved with very little funding. They should all be very proud.”
Clapperboard is a nonprofit making and charitable organisation which has worked successfully with over 1,000 young people between the ages of 7-26 across the North West – bringing creativity into their lives through film-making.
