LIVERPOOL’S VERSATILITY: A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE
Have you seen Channel 4’s A Woman of Substance yet?
With the help of Liverpool Film Office, the production team was able to transform one of our region’s most versatile and grand filming locations to form the perfect backdrop for Brenda Blethyn’s revenge‑fuelled business magnate.
The Port of Liverpool Building and the roads around our world‑famous Three Graces became 1970s New York for a week last year, with local set‑build company Helloh Construction creating the opulent signage and interiors seen on screen across the Harte business empire.
It’s a pocket of the city that’s no stranger to the camera either – doubling for far‑flung locations in Heads of State, Florence Foster Jenkins and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and playing itself in This City Is Ours, among many others.
We’re proud to have supported The Forge’s production in the Liverpool City Region, our shape‑shifting locations and striking architecture once again demonstrating the region’s ability to step seamlessly into any world and era a story demands.
