CBeebies Panto returns with Treasure Island – filmed at the Liverpool Empire

CBeebies has released the details of this year’s festive panto – and it’s being filmed right here in Liverpool.

A reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s pirate classic, Treasure Island, this year’s panto, produced by BBC Studios Kids and Family Productions, will be recorded at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026, and will feature a boatload of CBeebies stars, including Andy Day.

Expect singing, dancing and laughs for all ages in this lively retelling, which celebrates family and the importance of listening to those you love most. The show follows Jim and his dad, Bertie, as they set off on a treasure hunt across the high seas. Along the way, they encounter sneaky pirates, a chatty seagull, and even a very festive surprise.

With music from Banks and Wag, the Christmas special will feature songs sure to have everyone, from preschoolers to grannies, singing, dancing and a-harr’ing along.

Kate Morton, Senior Head of Commissioning for CBeebies said: “The CBeebies Panto is a much-loved festive tradition for families across the UK, and we’re setting sail to Liverpool for ‘Treasure Island’ this year. Packed with songs, surprises and plenty of pirate mischief, it’s a festive treat designed to bring families together to watch and create magical memories.”

CBeebies Panto – Treasure Island will be available on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer across the festive period. Anna Perowne is the Executive Producer for BBC Studios Kids and Family. David Mercer is Commissioning Executive for BBC Children’s and Education.
